Area Board Meeting on 28th March – ‘Minutes In Minutes’

Chairman’s announcement: Police were unable to attend the meeting due to work on the major incident in Salisbury but chairman outlined the latest stats.

Written reports: There was a request for a more detailed report from the CCG about how it is delivering services and its outcomes. It was felt the current report is too general and PR focused. Tom to ask CCG for info.

Fire & Rescue Service: Reiterated that their focus is on prevention in our area due to the distance from the fire station. They offer free Safe and Well checks and are willing to talk to parishes and community groups.

Parish & community updates: There was a question about the role of Area Board, pin pointing that Cabinet Members are no longer attending area boards routinely, however it was highlighted that we can have cabinet members when relevant issues are raised that require cabinet level input. On the wider role of the area board, it was discussed that our focus has been on working with parishes and communities to develop practical projects therefore our emphasis has been parish/area board engagement rather than Wiltshire council/area board. We would like to hear your views on this…

RSPB Franchises Lodge:  Presentation from Nick Tomlin, Site Manager (Nick.Tomalin@rspb.org.uk) about their partnership with New Forest National Park Authority to acquire land at Hamptworth Estate. The land is in the parishes of Landford and Redlynch. The plans are at early stages but they welcome community involvement and will be communicating about opportunities for volunteers to get involved in the development of the nature reserve. Contact Nick on the details above.

JSA update: Tom briefly presented the JSA updates, highlighting the need for grant applications going forward to be linked to the these priorities. We are planning a wider session at our next meeting about this but in the meantime take a look at the priorities and get in touch if you have a local project going on or ideas tackling these issues. https://cms.wiltshire.gov.uk/documents/s142024/JSA%20theme%20updates%202018.pdf

Highways Investment Programme 2018/19: The investment programme report was enclosed and the chairman asked for any changes to be sent to Tom Bray at the earliest possible opportunity in order to affect the priorities.Health & Well-being update: Funding awarded listed below. We have set aside an amount for our social isolation projects being led by Cllr Clewer. Small grants and projects to tackle this are available and the H&WB group will discuss this shortly.
