Pitton Primary School

Pitton Primary School lies five miles east of Salisbury in Wiltshire. It is a typical small village school with about 100 pupils housed in four classrooms. The school was originally Grant Maintained but in September 1999 Pitton Primary School became Voluntary Aided in recognition of the school’s historical foundation.

The purpose-built school is sited on two acres of land surrounded by fields that belong to the Clarendon Estate.

The school also has a large play ground, playing field and excellent resources for ICT which includes SMART Boards in most classrooms and Broadband connection to the Internet.

The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school in four classrooms.

  • Class 1 – (OWLS) YR and younger Y1 children
  • Class 2 – (ROBINS) Older Y1 and Y2 children
  • Class 3 – (SARUM) Y3 and Y4 children
  • Class 4 – (CLARENDON) Y5 and Y6 children

Each class is taught by a teacher helped by an educational support assistant. Extra-curricular activities such as football, dance judo and music are led by specialist teachers. The Governors, villagers and parents take an active part in supporting the work in classrooms and after-school clubs.

Pitton Primary School rated as ‘Oustanding’ in SIAMS report

In May 2014, the results of the latest ‘SIAMS’ ( National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools Report ) report were announced, and Pitton Primary School was awarded ‘Outstanding’.

“The distinctiveness and effectiveness of Pitton CE Primary School as a Church of England School are outstanding”

The SIAMS report comes hard on the heels of the latest OFSTED report which was also very positive. You can read the OFSTED report here.

Well done to the Staff, Governors and pupils at Pitton School!
