The Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire encourages nominations for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
The Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs. Sarah Rose Troughton, is encouraging people in the county to nominate outstanding local voluntary groups for next year’s Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS). The purpose of the award is to recognise groups of individuals who are giving their time freely for the benefit of others.

The Wiltshire Children and Families Voluntary Sector Forum (WCFVSF) works across Wiltshire to bring together voluntary organisations offering services for children and families. It is funded by Wiltshire Council and works closely with the local authority to ensure there is a strong relationship and good partnership working between the public sector and voluntary sector community.
Emergency Services Show
The Emergency Services Show takes place on Sunday 16 September, from 10am- 4pm, at Cotswold Airport, Kemble, GL7 6BQ (only 10 mins from Hullavington / M4 J17 / A429). The Emergency Services Show (ESS) is the biggest outdoor show of its kind in the South West, showcasing local emergency services and partner agencies.
Movie by Moonlight presents ‘The Greatest Showman’ – Saturday 1st September
Roll up, roll up… the greatest show on earth is coming to Bath! The popular outdoor cinema, organised by the The Forever Friends Appeal, is returning to Royal Victoria Park on Saturday 1st September with a screening of the worldwide musical sensation – ‘The Greatest Showman’ (rated PG).
Wiltshire GPs Go All Out for Platinum
GP practices in Wiltshire went platinum at the recent Carer Support Wiltshire Investors in Carers GP Accreditation Scheme Awards. The awards recognise and celebrate those Wiltshire GP practices who have gone above and beyond for unpaid carers. This year saw 17 practices receiving platinum awards.

Wiltshire Police is the best Force in the country for dealing with priorities as highlighted by the community, a national survey which measures the types of crime experienced by the public has revealed. It has moved up the national rankings substantially after coming 29th last year.
Wiltshire Council makes a splash with free swimming for kids
Wiltshire Council’s free swimming for children offer is back for its tenth summer. Every child aged under 16 can claim one free swim per day at council pools across the county until 31 August. Wiltshire Council launched free swimming in 2009, and it is available to thousands of children.
Apprenticeship options open for GCSE students
Wiltshire Council is offering plenty of support for students who wish to consider apprenticeships following GCSE results day. A Drop in Session, open to all parents and children from Year 8 upwards will take place as follows: 23 August 2018 11:30am to 1:30pm Atrium, County Hall, Trowbridge
Council urges electronic answer to electoral roll inquiries
Between August and November 2018, we will be sending out around 220,000 Household Enquiry Form (HEF) one to every residential property in Wiltshire. This form is used to collect information to ensure anyone who is eligible to register at the property is actually registered.
