Clarendon Team News – 17th May 2019

Dear Friends,

Good morning on this somewhat grey day!
But don’t worry, you will receive a warm and sunny welcome at our churches tomorrow.
At Pitton we will be celebrating our Ecumenical Union with the Methodists at the Annual Covenant Service with both our Ministers, Bryan and for the first time, Simon Chambers. In Farley, the much loved David Blackwall will be preaching and presiding at the Parish Eucharist. Refreshments will be served at usual at both services.

Next Sunday, the 26th, after the Eucharist in Pitton with Simon, there will be an opportunity to ask Mandy any financial questions that you might have following the publication of the Annual Accounts. They are attached to this email for your interest.

The Tuesday Group will meet at Joanna’s Balfour’s house on the 21st and Canon Ed Probert is coming to tell us about the Salisbury Trust for the homeless which is one of our chosen charities this year. New members are very welcome.

We wish you a very good weekend and look forward to seeing you tomorrow,

With best wishes from Jane and Sara

There are no funerals in the Team in the next week.

Whiteparish All Saints Church will be hosting this year’s team service on Ascension Day, which is on Thursday, 30 May. The resident choir would be delighted if others wished to join them for this occasion. In addition to supporting the congregation’s hymns singing, where appropriate with harmonies, the choir will be singing the popular hymn, Rejoice, the Lord is King, to the well-known tune by Handel, arranged by Samuel Wesley, which is recommended for Ascension Day use.

If you would like to join the choir for this occasion or explore that possibility, please contact Richard Tulloch at or on 01725 511486. Rehearsal will be on the day only, probably at 9am (to be confirmed), but music can be circulated in advance. The service is at 10am.

The Farley Music Festival 2019 takes place from 18 to 23rd June, with 5 concerts and finishing with Evensong at Farley on Sunday 23rd June. For tickets and concert information see

A Communion service lasting only 30 minutes takes place every Wednesday morning at Whaddon at 10am. You would be most welcome to join the regular attendees.

There will be a Quiet Day on Saturday 8th June at All Saints Church, Whiteparish from 9.45am to 3.45pm. For further details see here. Booking is not essential, but it would be useful to know approximate numbers to help us to prepare. Drinks will be provided, but please bring your own lunch and a Bible (please email if you are planning to come).

St Mark’s Church Salisbury is welcoming singer songwriter Philippa Hanna in concert, with local support folk duo Antoine & Owena. Philippa has released five albums, a live DVD and published two autobiographies. She’s also performed over one thousand times in twenty-five countries. Sometime opener for Lionel Richie, Little Mix, Leona Lewis, Wet Wet Wet and Anastacia, she currently splits her time between Sheffield, Nashville and a hectic international touring schedule. Born into a musical family, Philippa knew that making music was for her. Since becoming a Christian in 2004 she draws on her turbulent youth and her journey of faith in many of her songs.
