Petanque In Pitton!

The village is home to four Pétanque teams that play home games on the terrain behind the Village Hall. Two teams play home and away on a Tuesday Night and two teams play home and away on a Thursday Night.

On a Tuesday the Pitton Pirates and the Pitton Ploughmen play in the Hopback Friendly League against teams from predominantly the Salisbury area. The season starts in early April and runs through to the end of September.

On a Thursday the Pitton Pythons and Pittonque play in the 3 Counties Petanque League against teams a little further afield in the New Forest. The season starts in early May and runs though to early September.

Both leagues are very friendly and there is always a mixture of beginners and more experienced payers in all teams.

The principal reason for this e-mail is to see if there is anyone on the village who would like to join in and play either on a Tuesday or a Thursday night. You would not be expected to play every week as it would be hoped to rotate players through the season, making sure eveyone gets a good number of games.

If you would like to play on a Tuesday night please contact either Chris Metson (Pirate’s Captain) or Tom Salisbury (Ploughmen’s Captain), for a Thursday night please contact Sarah Nightingale (Pittonque Captain) or Matthew Judd (Python’s Captain) all contact details at the end of this mail.

If you would like to play but are unsure of how to play, we will arrange an introduction to the game with an experienced player on the terrain at a time to suit you.

Pétanque is a good way to meet new people and make new friends so if you are interested please contact one of the following people.
