Riyad came to play for us some years ago, but we are delighted to welcome back this Syrian pianist whose individual style has just won him the coveted Liszt competition in Budapest. Not only will he play the Lizst Paganini Etude No.6, but also Beethoven’s Sonata in E flat major, Op.27, no.1, and some Russian music too, so it promises to be an exciting evening.

The International Young Soloists Trio is one of the projects of the inventive Hungarian pianist Alexandra Balog. The group is a versatile ensemble which can be expanded, but in this concert, Alexandra is joined by the Korean Violinist Jane Kim and the Hungarian Cellist Réka Adorjáni in an attractive programme comprising Beethoven’s magnificent Appassionata Sonata, Chopin’s Polonaise for Cello and Piano and Brahms’s beautiful first piano trio.
