Farley Music Festival : Music for a While – Britten & Purcell
Date/Time
Celebrating the centenary of the birth of Benjamin Britten.James Bowman (counter-tenor); Hugh Hetherington (tenor); Alistair Watson (bass) ; Nicholas Walker (piano); Andrew Littlemore (French horn). This evening’s concert is kindly sponsored by Quilter Investment Management. James Bowman, the doyen of English countertenors, returns to Wiltshire to perform this brilliantly conceived concert of Canticles by Britten, interspersed with songs by Purcell. James, with established local tenor Hugh Hetherington and international virtuoso pianist Nicholas Walker, will present some of Benjamin Britten’s most affecting output, which the composer produced between 1949 and 1971. This concert of music by two of Britain’s greatest composers has been greeted rapturously elsewhere, and we are delighted to welcome James Bowman and his friends to Farley for the first concert of the Farley Music Festival 2013.
