Prior to 1166 guilt or innocence was mainly tested by various ordeals. During the Assize held at Clarendon Palace, Henry II laid the first foundation of our present judicial system and paved the way for Magna Carta.

The programme will also include a chance to see some of the material from the contemporary Old Sarum site, held in store at the Salisbury Museum.
