Salisbury Household Recycling Centre Closure
Date/Time
Salisbury Household Recycling Centre (HRC) will temporarily close from Monday 22 February to Wednesday 24 February inclusive for essential resurfacing works. As the HRC is usually closed on Thursday and Fridays, this means people will be able to book slots to visit up to Sunday 21 February, and then once again on Saturday 27 February, when the site reopens to the public. The works that are required affect the bottom area of the site. A new gully is needed to improve drainage on the site, and this will require the bottom area of the site to be resurfaced . These works will start on the 18 and 19February during the normal closure days of the site, with the site able to reopen for the weekend. The site will then need to be closed to the public for the following week so the area can be resurfaced and to ensure that the new surface has time to cure. The site is planned to reopen on Saturday 27 February. These works are considered essential in resolvingongoing compliance issue involving the current drainage systems on site, which have been brought to the council’s attention by the site operator, FCC Environment, and Wessex Water. To ensure people in the area still have access to recycling facilities during this time, Amesbury HRC will be open on its usual closure days that week, Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 February, and its opening hours will be extended from 10am-4pm to 9am-5pm from Monday 22 February to Friday 26 February. The additional slots that are being made available at Amesbury mean that the overall number of slots available for booking is the same as if the Salisbury HRC were open. Therefore, residents of Salisbury should continue to be able to access a local site if required. Residents will continue to be reminded that, under current COVID restrictions, any journeys to a HRC should only be made if essential. Members will be aware that the current restrictions have meant that the council has needed to reduce visitor numbers at its HRCs. As spaces are limited, all visitors to HRCs must book their visit in advance to as this ensures that residents and staff can safely socially distance.
