Imogen Roose (soprano) & Alex Roose (baritone) – including Lieder, Britten and McEnery.
This brother and sister duo commissioned Simon McEnery to compose settings of poems by William Blake, and these and other songs by this local composer with other songs from the German lieder repertoire provide perfect music for a summer’s evening.
Imogen and Alex area brother and sister duo performing mostly in London. They gave the first performance of Simon McEnery’s Blake Songs last year and these with some of Simon’s other recent compositions will be performed in Farley, along with gems from the German lieder repertoire, and songs by Britten and Barber. Tim Ravalde (assistant director of music at Chichester Cathedral) who accompanies them will be known to many in Salisbury as a former cathedral organ scholar. Should be a great concert – do come!
Imogen Roose and her brother come from Australia where Imogen sang as principal soprano with the State Opera of South Australia and Co*Opera. In this country she has sung with Grange Park Opera, and Thursford Christmas Spectacular, and was the soprano soloist in the Salisbury Cathedral choir recording of Simon McEnery’s The Resurrection. She and her husband run a classical vocal duet called ‘Imagine Jack’.
Alex Roose is a free lance bass/baritone and was bass lay clerk at Guildford Cathedral. He directs the New Sussex Singers.
