Superfast Broadband deployment in Wiltshire; Public Consultation to Define the Intervention Areas.
The Council is consulting all interested parties in Wiltshire to find out about the availability of superfast broadband in the area.
http://consult.wiltshire.gov.uk/portal/broadband/superfast_broadband_deployment
In January 2013 the Council started a contract with British Telecommunications (BT) to provide superfast broadband infrastructure in Wiltshire in areas where operators would not be using their own investment.
This contract was carefully constructed to connect as many premises as possible to superfast broadband infrastructure within the funding available. However there was insufficient funding to connect all premises within the Council’s area.
The purpose of this consultation is to ensure that the next round of investment is not used in areas where there already is existing superfast broadband infrastructure. For more information please visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/state-aid-advice
For more information please refer to the related documents which can be access via the supporting documents tab below.
The Council has already reviewed coverage with broadband operators providing services in Wiltshire and maps of their coverage are also available to download for reference.
The consultation will be closed at 5.00pm on Monday 12th January 2015

Hi all,
Does anyone have anymore information on when BT and WCC will complete the superfast broadband installation for Pitton and Farley? According to the councils announcement in Feb 2014 we should have been able to start ordering this from the end of Summer 2014. However the Wiltshire Online website now states it will be late 2015 untill this is available to order. This is obviously very, very disappointing as the Feb announcement from WCC was the reason that Gigaclear pulled out of providing a fibre solution to the villages.
Any information you could get on confirmed availability would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
The problem that the Council has reported is that the ducts are all blocked. And indeed, it may be another 6 months before they are cleared. Please see the Parish Council notice here: https://www.pittonandfarley.co.uk/2014/12/broadband-in-pitton-farley-update/

PS – you might also consider submitting a response to the Council’s latest broadband consultation, which you’ll find here:

There was a change today in the results that I am getting from these two websites:
https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/
Inputting central Pitton numbers today – suggests (for the first time today I think) that one should be able to order superfast.
Great, thanks for that information Doric. I will certainly respond the the Council’s consulation.
According to Wiltshire Online – we have gone live.
I tried to order from BT but they say it is not available. So I guess we are nearly there.
Hi Brian. Let us hope that is the case! In case it’s helpful, the link below should provide as accurate information as you can get. It’s what BT’s Openreach believes to be the current situation. With your number today, it just shows ‘Up to 5’ Mbps with standard ADSL.

Hi guys,
I live in Farley and BT have accepted my order today for Infinity1 to commence on 21/1/15.
Apparently Infinity2 is not available yet but according to BT will be upgraded in the future, but was told not to hold my breath for it. The cynical side of me wonders why my current connection has deteriorated significantly over the last week or so !!. In fact has dropped out twice whilst writing this
Good luck
I managed to order Infinity2 from BT on Thursday. Due to be ‘installed’ on Feb 2nd. Said I should be getting between 34-42Mb download and 5-7Mb upload. Hopefully these are accurate but I will do some measurements and let you know once installed. Fingers crossed!!
Cheers,
Jeff
