Farley Cricket Club News

Preparations for the summer are now firmly under way at Farley Cricket Club – with the first home matches just over a month away. The next few weeks will see plenty of activity at the ground and volunteers are very welcome to assist!

The club’s first team will be in action in Hampshire League Division 3 North, with Marc Burton taking over as captain. The second team are still led by Craig Burrows and face plenty of local opposition in Division 5 North West. We’re always keen to find new players – contact Paul Roberts on 07900 380521 for more details.

Both sides will benefit from a new sponsor – Winterslow-based Fi’s Amazing Brownies. There’ll be brownies available to buy at the club house every Saturday afternoon (as long as rain doesn’t stop play!) If that’s not an excuse for a walk round the pitch on a sunny Saturday, what is? Full fixture details are online at http://farley.play-cricket.com.

Meanwhile, the Twenty 20 team led by Manny Gurung will be looking to go one better than last season, where they were pipped to the league title by South Wilts on run rate. Their league fixtures start on Wednesday 27 April and with coloured clothing and big hitting, it’s a real spectacle.

Junior cricket is back too, after the successful launch of the All-Stars (5-8 year olds) and Dynamos (8-14) last year. Sessions will be on Thursday evenings, from 12 May for eight weeks.

All-Stars sessions are from 5.45pm to 6.45pm and Dynamos from 5.45pm-7.15pm. You can register online:

At the other end of the spectrum, the club will be hosting some Wiltshire County Seniors fixtures too!
